A Few Photos for your Enjoyment!

This was at a museum in Santiago where we went a couple weekends ago. They had the weirdest little statues everywhere, but some cool art and a beautiful view of the city.
My co-counselor, Lauren, and I in a visitor's dugout today while all our kids were running around in a weedy field. We were so relieved to have a ten minute break... that rarely rarely rarely happens. We had to capture the moment on film.
This is another one of today. Just another crazy bus ride, music blaring, everyone singing (aka screaming out of tune), and the bus driver honking at everyone as he passes on the wrong side of the road...
This past weekend we all stayed in Cabarete and volunteered to work for the Cabarete Classic, a windsurf competition that is a really big deal for this town. We spent all day Saturday on the beach from 10am to 11:30pm, and it was so nice to finally spend one day at the beach. and FINALLY get a little sun on this white bod.
In our class yesterday we got into groups and made deviled eggs. They LOVED them and loved to make them, but we called them Huevos de Diablo (Eggs of the Devil... definitely not a decision I was part of) which happened to be a disaster because both those words are bad words here, so the kids thought that was absolutely hilarious until we finally realized our mistake ten minutes later.
Today we went on a field trip to Pizza Hut and got a tour of the kitchen and how things happen behind the scenes, and then when we were done they gave us each a personal pan pizza. The kids were so excited that they only ate half so that they could take the rest home to show their family. Little things like this are such a treat for them- some of them would never be able to afford Pizza Hut in their wildest dreams.

I have more of other field trips and stuff but they are on other people's cameras so they will come soon.

Gnarly Carly,
After your very bad day it is so nice to see some lighter times. I worry about you every day and then I remember how strong and smart you are and sigh a small sigh of relief. I hope everyone down there appreciates how special you are.
Keep it safe girl and come home soon.
I love you!

Devil--a culinary term which...first appeared as a noun in the 18th century, and then in the early 19th century as a verb meaning to cook something with fiery hot spices or condiments...The term was presumably adopted because of the connection between the devil and the excessive heat in Hell.
